June has been a whirlwind of preparation for our son's graduation party ~ nothing like a party to get things cleaned up in a hurry! I am so grateful that it all came together: seven large perennial flowerbeds weeded and edged, eighteen yards of mulch spread, two great parents running errands and baking cookies, two kids helping out mowing and cleaning up, and one hardworking husband who unloads mulch like machine, and lots of friends and family that came to enjoy and celebrate with us!
I admit that I severely underestimated the time it was going to take to get the flowers all in order and at one point I looked at my husband in desperation and said something to the effect of "I just don't remember it being this much work!" to which he flatly responded, "That's because you never finished it all last year." Ugh. Yep, I never finished mulching them all last year. Weeding is rather enjoyable to me to a point, mulching... well, let's just say he is a lot faster at unloading the truckload than I am! But now that it's all done, they look so pretty it would be sad to downsize! Now to get back to finishing planting the cut flower and herb garden... no rest for the weary!
