Spring Garden Preparation and Seed Starting!

Spring Garden Preparation and Seed Starting!

Spring Garden Preparation and Seed Starting!   I am always so excited to begin working in the garden again!  Something about the smell of the dirt and the sound of the birds and the bit of sunshine breaking through that is so refreshing!  And that feeling lasts for a while until the reality of how much needs to be done and the pain in my feet and hands and back all remind me that I am both out of shape and getting older!  Still, there is something innately satisfying about gardening... from a lot of compost grows some beautiful things! Our...

🌳🌲 Spring Tree Planting! 🌲 🌳

A little late for Arbor Day, but still so happy to find our new trees arrived from the Arbor Day Foundation in great shape!  We always love planting more trees each year... our kids who water them do not share our same love for them 😂  We managed to get everyone planted in time for the coming rain too which was a bit of a job since there were over thirty of them! Every time it blooms with its explosion of fluffy baby pink flowers I think it is my favorite tree we've ever planted! 🌸🌳    While it does have an abundance of unattractive suckers at the base of the tree that grow back time and again in...

Groundbreaking for the new cut flower and herb garden!

So excited for the beautiful Easter weekend weather! Sunrise service is one of my favorite things and that's saying something since I am not a morning person by nature! Perhaps the best surprise this weekend was hearing my husband tell me we could rototill the gardens!!  I've been trying really hard not to ask on a daily basis if it was dry enough yet! (Is it dry enough now? What about tonight? When do you think it will be ready?)  But the time was finally here THIS WEEKEND and Saturday evening we (he on the tractor and I happily...

The groundhogs were right! Winter has returned!

Angela Weaver Flowers Gardening Spring Winter

The groundhogs were right! Winter has returned!

It's mid-March and I'm thinking that Punxsutawney Phil and Buckeye Chuck the groundhogs were right... after a refreshing intermission, winter has returned!  With such a mild winter, I really won't complain (too much!) about a delayed spring and a bunch of snow covering up the flowers that were starting to pop up!  Thankfully they weren't farther along so no real damage done.  March snowstorms are easier to take since you know they will be more or less short lived as compared to the more hopeless and unending snow in January and the just plain mean snow that sometimes comes as...
